use Nott Street Entrance
From
North:
Take I 87 south to exit 6 (Rt. 7 west); take Rt. 7 west
to Balltown Road (Rt. 146); turn right and High School is
about 2 miles on your right. Turn RIGHT on Nott Street, back
entrance is just past St James Square on your left.
From
East:
Take Rt. 7 west to Balltown Rd (Rt. 146); turn right
and High School is about 2 miles on your right. Turn RIGHT on
Nott Street, back entrance is just past St James Square on
your left.
From
South
Take NYS Thruway to exit 25 (Schenectady/I 890); Take I
890 to exit 7 (Rt. 7/Troy); Follow Rt. 7 to Balltown
and
West:
Rd (Rt. 146.) Turn left onto Balltown Road and High
School is about 2 miles on your right.

Students
interested in presenting their portfolios for the NEW YORK
SUMMER SCHOOL OF THE ARTS please meet see NYSSSA
representatives when they arrive to set up interview.
Judges decisions
will be emailed to teachers. Award certificates will be
presented at the
CLOSING
RECEPTION
AWARDS, Tuesday, April 7 , 6:30 PM
Awards at 7:00pm
Pick-up artwork on Thursday, April 9 before 4:00PM
FESTIVAL
RULES
-
Pay
Participation Fee: $25 per district.
-
The
Festival and Competition are limited to high school
students.
-
Students
may sign up for the NYSSSA adjudication with the form.
-
A
maximum of 22 students (15 Visual Arts, 7 Music if
entering Electronic Music) per high school may attend the
festival.
-
Maximum
entries:
- 20 hardcopy artwork
- Videos: 15 minutes total per school with
NO SINGLE WORK GREATER THAN FIVE (5) MINUTES
Entries must be
transferred onto separate DVD-R for EACH of the categories
entered. (i.e.
All PSA submissions should be on one DVD-R and all
Stop Action submissions on another DVD-R.)

Original Electronic Music:
7 minutes with
NO SINGLE WORK GREATER THAN ONE (1) MINUTE
(CD with hard copy of music score.) Submissions must be original compositions created in a
computer sequencing program such as GarageBand, Logic,
Reason, etc. No
use of pre-made commercial loops is allowed.
Submissions can incorporate the use of live
instruments, but they must have the electronic element as
well.
- Web Design: up to 3
(submit on CD and URL)

Electronic
Inventories, for
accuracy, are available for download from website.
Please fill out in WORD, print a copy to submit with
artwork, and email as an attachment to Barbara
Colose.

Artwork
with Inventory printout due Thurs. March 12 or Fri. March
13, 2009 by 4:00PM at the Art Office, Room F105, Nott
Street Entrance.

ALL
STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A TEACHER/PARENT.

All
students are asked to follow the schedule and stay within
the designated areas.
-

available in the school cafeteria or students may bring a

Judges
decisions will be emailed to teachers and award
certificates will be presented at the Award Show. First,
Second, Third prizes in HARDCOPY categories;
"Best" in VIDEO categories. Honorable mentions
may be awarded by the judges.

- APPROPRIATE
CONTENT FOR SCHOOL SETTING REQUIRED. We are asking that
all videos fall within the PG-13 rating. Please see Movie
Ratings.
16. Hard Copy
~ 20 MAXIMUM ~ Award CATEGORIES (1st, 2nd,
3rd, Honor)
- All hard copy work must be mounted/matted, labeled
and delivered by Thurs. March 12, or Fri. 13, 2009.
- Do not use glass when preparing hard copy work for the
competition display.

Attach the ID Label to the bottom right corner on the back
of mount.
- Hard copy work will be hung by the following categories
and stapled to panels BEFORE the Festival Day.

(Videos not submitted by March 14 will not be part of the
public viewing.)

Action submissions on another DVD-R.)
Submitting
your schools entries in this manner will allow the judges to
view all the entries in each category at one time.
* NOTE - Editing, Directing, and Sound awards are determined
by the judges.

Total
of all films SHOULD NOT be longer than 15
minutes with NO SINGLE WORK GREATER THAN FIVE (5) MINUTES.

Films will be viewed through large screen projection.
